Anyone have experience with both? It looks as though the Cannon would mount on the Trident hard cover rod pod, but the reviews online seem mixed. It is also quite a bit more expensive than the Scotty.

Opinions or advice?

Thanks,
Pete

which cannon are you talking about?  they are fairly large so it would be a lot more trouble. the scotty has the laketroller which is small and fairly easy to handle from a kayak, but the cannon's are all like uni-troll size which is a lot of work, and potentially dangerous because they would hang over your feet if put on the rod pod.

as a note, i use the laketroller from my kayak and it handles fine. but if you're talking about ocean salmon trolling where you might need some heavier weights (i use 3lb balls) then I dont have experience with it at that rate.  I think Zee uses the laketroller or maybe the scotty depthmaster, which is similar to a laketroller but a little stronger.

I have the cannons on my powerboat and they are nice enough. I have a spare one if you want it i would sell it to you cheap, but you should definitely consider the placement of your downrigger. personally i think the rod pod is not a good place to put one but thats just my humble opinion.
