So I have been looking at buying the Eagle cuda 300 portable version. I used  the search function but only found info on the 300 non portable. Does anyone have any experience with the portable version? I like this because I can easily switch it between boats. From all I've read on the internet it seems to be the same as the 300 non portable, your just paying a bit more for the convenience of the portable

The portable version really just has a battery box and a scupper transducer.  My EC350/S is portable, because of how I installed it.  Using a pool noodle mount and just passing the wires through the front hatch instead of a wire seal, I can move it between boats.  Another option is to just get a second transducer cable and perm mount them both on your yaks, and then just move the unit between them.  Personally, i'm not going to use any suction cup mounted ducer in the ocean for fear of it popping off and having to remount it otw or something.

Any chance on getting some pics of your setup? Curious on the pool noodle mount

Sure, lots of examples on the site.  Check out Porky's install, and some other good info on this thread:

Ah, well there are more installs to look at, do a search  :smt002  My yak's are at my old pad until I pick them up, so cant get you any pics of my setup.  I do remember a recent post about a No Holes FF install that someone posted that had good info too!

Regarding the second transducer, is this something they have at a retail level or you need to order from factory after the fact?

Thanks!

I've found them on Ebay for around 20$ for hummingbird FF's.  I'd look for used or broken items on Ebay, or even here in the Classifieds section. Someone must have a dead unit with the ducer doing nothing and will give it up cheap!  :smt002
