People dont know when to stay home. They think their $60k car is invincible in any type of weather. Glad you made it out of their not dealing with an idiot hitting you!

I don't get it, why were so many people spinning out?  While I don't drive in the snow all that much, I've never had issues before - knock on wood.    Did they not have on chains?  Or did they have on chains and think it made them invincible?

Several reasons. Bad tires, too fast acceleration, too hard breaking, downshifting w/o matching engine speed, not paying attention to exactly what is on the road ( sluch, snow, ice).
Mostly just inexperience and ignorance.
How many people actually go into a frozen parking lot at midnight just to practice driving on ice?
Kind of like self rescue. It's a lot better to practice and be good at it than try to deal with it the first time it happens.

This a good idea I do it every year just to make sure I know how my veh. is going to react. Peal out brake, turn slide brake . learn how it feels and what stopping dist. you have.
