Jeff and I got to Quarry around 9am.  I had been to the lake a couple times before.  But, it was always to windy.

We were going to go Sat.  But, it was rainy.  So, we delayed one day.

Really nice launch and bathrooms.  Bathrooms are all around the lake.  Lots of shore guys.  We started trolling and I got one hit at 30 ft.  Jeff likes to troll, so I trolled with him until he left at noon.  He is trying out a new double downrigger system and does not have all the bugs worked out. He had two small trout on until he got them next to the Yak and lost them.  He got on small LMB trolling on the way in.

Water was pretty clear.  This lake is an old quarry.  So it is mainly all rocks.  Just like Shadow Cliffs.  Quarry gets a 1,000 lbs plant.  Just like Del Valle.  Shadow get 500.
But, Quarry is about 4 times smaller than Del.  Maybe more.

I got 2 trout in the afternoon.  14" & 15".  Good fighters and fat.  Still white meat, however.

Got them drifting green power bait with a few spilt shots.  Found out I need an anchor to fish this right.  I had a hard time paddling in one place with the wind and trying to watch for hits.  Must of had 10 other hits. Left at 5pm.  Will be there this weekend.  With an anchor.  Channel 69....

Jeff,

Thanks for the report. I fished Quarry in my kayak sometimes. Quarry has stricter rule than Shadow Cliffs, Quarry doesn't allow using lead weight.  Shadow Cliffs would allow boat with a gas motor to launch provided the boater does not use the gas motor, but Quarry is a absolutely no, no. I was turned away one time for that reason when I brought my boat there. I want to mention these in case some other fellow anglers are not familiar with such restrictions. Big trout and clear water in Quarry is still the attraction.
