flex fold crab pot

i got a flex fold crab pot fr my birthday.  they seem pretty cool, stainless steel rings, with cloth mesh.  my only concern is that it feels quite light.  i was wondering if anyone has used one of these or something similar, do they need some weighting to keep it from moving?  any information would be greatly appreciated.

I was really interested in the similar one that Promar makes last year: But then decided to stick with the TR-101's for ease of use.  Being able to open the entire top of the trap to measure them and pull the buggers out is really nice on a kayak.

I'm with you AL.  I have the TR-102's and a ring type.  It's so much easier to get the crabs out of the 102's which is similar to yours.  They are light and collapsible too.  I left mine for 2 nights at HMB last weekend and it did not crawl much without any weights at all.

i'm pretty sure they go for about $150-160... i'm not sure, they seem pretty neat... i opened it up and put it back in the bag, it might be difficult to do in a kayak... i'm still going to try it though 

Those are some slick traps.  I'll get a bunch of them when I hit the lotto.  They're $160 apiece at west marine.

Nice looking trap.  I almost pulled the trigger on the one that looked similar over at fisherman'swarehouse and the damage was ~60.  I purchased an extra danielson and a ambush one instead - having second thoughts tho.

Just realized that it folds!  The promar/FW one doesn't.

Also, it's like the danielson traps, where you have to make sure that it's right-side up when it hits bottom.  Otherwise, someone raided your traps. 

i got to get out and use the pot a couple days ago, the crabbin' was really slow, but the pots are cool!... the gates are neat, they work well, and they are fun to use.... i would recommend them.  it is cool that the top opens so you can access the crab from the top... the only complaint, they are a little difficult to shrink all the way down to bag size... laying them flat make them approximately the same size as that of a crab ring, which is pretty handy for the size of the pots.  anyway, that's my 2 cents.
