Nice and sunny in Elk Grove this morning so I headed up to Rancho Seco. Bought my yearly pass at the gate and was on the lake around 8am. The lake was cold, breezy and very foggy. Launched my kayak at the south cove and couldn't see across the cove because of the fog. Only a few people on the bank when I arrived. One person caught a trout before I got there. I saw two other fish caught by bank people in the cove and that was it. Fog lifted around 11am so I paddled out to the east end of the lake to view the swans Yakmotor mentioned in one of his Sniffer posts. I saw six of them way off as they were headed west. I stopped as they headed close to me. Then they stopped near me for a photo opp. They turned out to be the highlight of my outing.
