Went out to Del Valle with Joel and Joseph.  Started (7:30am) out kind of slow.  Joel had two trout (normal size for this lake 12 to 13 inches).

I got a nice one right after that. It was 18 inches and fat.  Did not weigh it.

Joel got one more and then left the lake.  I guess around 2pm.  I found a spot of boats and trolled around them.  This was on the south end of the lake.

Had 3 more with in 30 mins (12 to 13 inchers).  Called Joseph over and he got one trout and then a 13" Small Mouth Bass (Nice & sweet meat).  He got one more trout and we called it a day.

Meet another Ken on a yak (sit inside Wilderness Sys. Blue) and Dave (I think?) in a Blue Malibu Extreme.  Both really nice guys.  We (Joel and I) told them about our site. Left the lake at 5pm.

Shadrap (green) and Rapala (smallest one in a firetiger w/ a few spilt shots).

Other guys were using kastermaster (blue/silver, gold) and green powerbait.

Heard they planted on Thurs. (1000 lbs)

I saw a beautiful sight....

When I caught the first trout.....a HEUGE LM Bass followed the hooked trout all the way to the yak...as soon as he saw my ugly mug - he took off (seems to be pattern there :smt011 ). I quickly let the trout swim away to see if I can get the lunker to strike.....no soup for me  :smt013

The bass was definitely big enough to swallow the 14 inch trout  :smt104

Ken caught the biggest trout of the day :smt023 and earns the title of "MISTER LUNKER PLUNKER" of the day  :smt003

I was that other Ken in the blue sit-it. It was a pleasure to meet you guys.
Boy do you have the set-ups for fishing! And Ken those were cat's that you were reading under us when we first met. I went back Sunday and caught a few on nightcrawlers. I did get a limit of trout with one going 4 pounds but the big ones were up in the narrows. I talked to some guys as I pulled out and they had some good ones to 8 pounds.

Hope to see ypu out there again sometime and maybe get some set-up pointers from you all, like rodholders etc.

Hi "other Ken",

Good to heard from you.  Now we had 3 Kens on this site.

Maybe we need some Kellys, Kathys, Kimberlys, etc.

Hey Kickfish, Joseph and Joel,

Thanks for the invatation to the website. I'm just dropping a short line to say thanks and that it was good to meet you all. I'll be checking in every so often to whats happenin. I should have checked the site sooner for tips for Del Valle this time of the year. I paddled around for six hours and had only one hit. :smt017 I look forward to hooking up with you guys on trip a sometime. Thanks again.

Dave- here's my secret  :secret  Use your fish finder and troll along the lip of the shoreline - make sure your on 6 to 10 feet of water. I've had success using a shad rap.  :smt023

I've hooked up with small mouth bass, large mouth bass and a catfish as well - with this method. I've seen the boaters troll the lip as well - but the problem is some of them use their main motor instead of a trolling motor :smt018 Too much noise :smt011 Some troll to fast as well. IMO - our kayaks have the perfect trolling speed (casual paddling).

Give this a shot and let me know how you do! Good Luck!
