Jason....in the mean time, you can transport your kayak with Joel's ghetto style system - make sure you put a towel on top of your roof to keep the yak from scratching your "pink" paint job   :smt003 :smt002  Peace out homie  :smt109

Dang!

I had one around for years after i got rid of the truck.  I tossed it out a couple of months ago.

Jason,

I built a ladder style rack for my 2000 F150 short bed last summer. I am not looking to sell it but I could save you some time
if you were to decide to build your own. I made it out of 1" X 2"  1/8" wall steel tube. It is straight forward design and
plenty sturdy for several kayaks, or lumber, ladders, ect.
P.M. me and I will send measurements and pictures if you are interested. All you need is a saw and access to an arc welder.

If you're considering other ideas besides a full out lumber rack, here is another option.

I have an F150 SuperCrew and wanted something to carry the kayak on but was also easy to remove and that didn't interfere with my removeable tonneau cover. I picked up a rear rack for the truck then added a Yakama bar to the cab. The rear rack uses a nut kind of like a wellnut then just 2 bolts on each side. It only takes me about 90 seconds to remove the rack.

Hey Jason..

My friend has a rack for sale that fits a Ford F150 (94 body style)  It is a cab over and actually will fit a shell also.  What year is your truck?  He will sell it for $150

I got the whole setup here: http://www.oakorchardcanoe.com/racks.htm. I paid $179 for the rear rack and I don't remember how much the Yakama cab parts cost. I was going to get the cab parts at REI but when I compaired the prices, it was a little cheaper getting everything at Oak Orchard not to mention it was all delivered to my door. The rear rack uses the same size bar as the cab so all the Yakama accessories work. It was a pretty easy install and works well.
