Booked a trip on the San Diego out of Seaforth Landing. Coronados were good for only bonita and sandbass, so Ryan the captain said it would be an offshore discovery trip. If anyone wanted to back out, was fine. We all stayed and 7 passengers and 3 crew left the docks after getting nice sardines and chovies. 4 in the Jackpot. One of the 7 was a crew member on a day off. I landed the first fish, a troll Yellowfin of about 25#. Did little on bait. lost a couple dines with no hookups during the day. Only one YF landed on bait by a person in the jackpot. Offduty crew member was top with 2 YF, one about 30#. All nice grade tuna. Some Yellowtail landed off one paddy and one small Dorado made up the days bags. We got back to the docks at about 7:30 pm. We started fishing 30 miles or so from Mission Bay and did a lot of running. Most of the tuna off large dolphin schools. Some schools had non-biters. Most of the tuna were on feathers and cedar plugs. I am always impressed by Ryan. Always works hard to find fish and this is not the first time we have come back to the docks a lot later than the normal 6 pm. Great day on the water. Was sunny for maybe an hour, but lots of overcast and the water is about 8-10 degrees cooler than normal.

Daughter and SIL and grand daughters are here for weekend.  Am trying to figure out if I can work in a Jim Sammons fishing trip.

Sounds like you're having fun catching fish.  Thanks for the down South report Bill.

No doubt. Can't wait to get back down there.

Between there and hunting in Fort Bidwell, I'm going to be making multiple trips across the whole damn state next year!

I started kayak fishing to get away from most of you...
