Okay, so I know there are probably other threads about this topic, but I figure why not start fresh.

I bought some 40 lb fluorocarbon today - at Hi's they recommended the 40. Seems heavy but it's .022"/.570mm diameter.
Then I have some dark colored singles and shiny trebles. Do I need dark trebles?

Any tips or feedback?
Thanks!

30-40# fluoro leader 3-6' long. You can use 2/0 - 5/0 circle hooks or 5/0 - 8/0 J hooks. For circle hooks I like the Owner Light Mutu Circle hooks. For J hooks I like the Owner Aki Twist hooks (6/0-8/0) which are specifically designed for fishing whole squid for WSB. Keep your drag medium-loose and you are good to go.

Go with a newb seems like they come home with limits. I am 0 for I lost count. Seems like I am last to be picked for the kickball team.

I am just bitter...now where is my beer!

Can someone just give me small fillet....I just want a taste! It's so good when it hits your lips!

yeah where is that beer again

I would not use any shiny hooks. Dark or even red are OK. But the shiny one's spook the ghost's.

nice tip. Since most of my fishing is just vertical jigging for rockies/halibut I never even think of little things like this. Dark hooks it is. Thanks!
