Does anybody dive there on a regular basis/at all? I was just wondering because its closer than Monterey.

I tried the search function but didn't find all that much. From what I've gathered, the viz isn't too good (at best). I did, however, hear that guys dive there (for wsb).

I've tried diving Capitola/New Brighton, but I couldn't even see my hand because of the sediment.

I figure that northern Santa Cruz would probably be better. Maybe off of Natural Bridges or Lighthouse for rockfish.

Any input?

Thanks.

I think Natural Bridges is a MLPA off limits area. I think.

Yeah, no take zone from shore to 200 ft. out. But maybe the kelp out side of the reserve.

And if its a really sharky area, I'd probably just wait until spring to try, if I do.

The last couple of times I paddled out from the harbor there were spearos diving in the kelp between Cowell's & Steamers.  Surface visibility was pretty good on 9/4, maybe 15'. They said they were looking for seabass.

I've seen tank divers farther up towards Natural Bridges, say Mitchell's area,  but never farther up than that.
