I had a request in a PM for some info on my tripod setup on the yak, so I thought I'd just post it up.

I basically stumbled on to the method I use:  the 'Gator Hatch' that I got with my X-Factor has a profile that allows for a strapped down tripod to angle upward to the ideal area right in front of my paddling and a foot or so off the deck.  I've previously used two other tripods that were harder to reposition with one hand - this latest one is from Costco, cost $40 or so, and it has the 'trigger' grip that allows easy one handed change of positioning.

Other than those mechanics, I just recommend being ready to turn it on quickly, and go for lots of different shots with different angles.  Good luck.   :smt001

Love it. I just ordered a waterproof case for my flip (HD) video. The one issue I see is the case doesn't have a tripod screw. But I bet I can add one with a brass nut and some goop!

I LOVE THE PISTOL GRIP!!!! FREEZE LING!
