Up here for a couple days. A few greenling's in the rockfish catagory. Nothing big. Have seen Halibut landed, just not my boat. No salmon. some are catching, lots not. I am in the not catagory. going to go out early tomorrow and hit it harder than I have. Been a lot if sightseeing vs. fishing. Eagles going after rockcod I released, totems in Alert bay, Minke whale and Dall's Porpoise off Malcolm Island. wife is happy, I am happy, would just like to catch a couple salmon and halibut. Water rough the first day, calm since. Except for the 15' tide changes and rips. to Port Albernie in 2 days, for coho and sockeye.

Lots of sea kayaks, have not seen a SOT.

Glad you & your wife are happy there.  I've been there a couple time to fish for Salmon & RF's.  Love the scenery!  Thanks for the post and pictures Bill.

At salmon Point RV resort in Campbell river today and next couple days.  Not fished yet here.  LAst day at TC I fished the Georges Banks for Halibut.  No joy.  Very large Quillback RF, maybe 6#.  One halibut about 22" long.  Released the baby to grow to 40-50#.  But still fun.  Flat calm.  Have not seen a Sit on top, but lots and lots of Sea Kayaks.  One lady was paying for parking and they were going out until the 27th camping on the islands.  Not bad on pricing, except for fuel.  $1.169 per liter (3.78 L per gallon) for on water fuel, penny more than the gas station for gas.  Paid $1.29 for diesel yesterday in Sayward.  $51total  for RV and morage a day here.

could not modify last post.
The diesel was $1.029 not $1.29

Very cool!!

Thanks for sharing Bill!!!!!!

Good luck!!

I was in Victoria last year for a Marathon and had a blast checking out the city, bars and nightlife!!

If you end up downtown, check out Spinnakers, but since you are with the wife you should stay away from the Fox club!!   :smt002

To late for Victoria.  Went to China Creek yesterday and fished this morning.  No joy.  Seiners had an opening and took 400,000 sockeyes earlier in the week and that also shuts down all the rest of the salmon for awhile.  they were getting some at Bamfield, but did not want to run 25 miles each way.  So fished local.  Got to Departure bay for the 5:20 boat to Vancouver, but they did not let 3 lines of us on and filled it with late arriving cars.  So got the 7:30 boat and am in Vancouver to the PNE fair tomorrow.  And staying in a motel for wife.  fox burned and closed in 2001.

Too bad about the timing of the seiners!!  :smt009

The Fox was rebuilt and reopened, along with the liquor store...interesting little place, but only if you have nothing better to do really...had a lot more fun at Spinnakers and checking out the architecture downtown to be honest!!

Thanks again for sharing your trip with us, and hope you have a great time in Vancouver!!

Thanks for the post, it brings back good memories.  We fished for salmon around Malcolm, Hanson, and Swanson Island (all near Telegraph Cove) last summer and had a great time.
