Tear in Turbo Fin

Some of you may have read my recent Mishap on the Sacramento river....

River was moving swift, I got snagged,  was swiftly moved over my 8 lb.mono and it hung up on my turbo fin. I immediately cut the line, but too late.....  

Suffered an 1/2" tear to the lee side of my Turbo fin....

I posted up on the Hobie Forum and Matt Miller led me to a link on someone who had a Nasty Tear along the mast...

makes mine look like a Flesh wound....  Here is the link...

 He used PVC primer/cement and dry wall tape,

Works like a Charm for him....

I just did my repair and we'll see, but it looks pretty solid....  

I have a tear in mine also.  I'm going to try the bike patch, gorilla glue, gorilla tape method.

seaweed pulled it apart, but I took it in hard...

need to do it again, but even the Australian that came up with this fix had to do it a couple of times and it would give way after time,

but his tear was along the entire rod.

Major tear and major force being exerted on that part.

I do believe in this fix, simple and strong....
