thursday @ steamer lane should be pretty good. this 7th storm is a whopper and the
winds turn nw late wednesday, it should clean up and people should be surfing middle
peak, an outer reef. the best waves, they ride left toward the cliff, you sometimes
can see the whole ride, looking into the tube from the cliff. I've seen the whole
cliff go "ooh", "ahhh". "Ooooo" together as a guy drops, pulls up and pulls in
and doesn't make it out,  :smt005.

the buoys right now are 16 feet @ 20 seconds, which is a big fast wave to say the least.
once the period comes down, it won't be quite as impressive. it's also a little
north (300) degrees which will take some size off it, but also clean it up a bit.

I ate it on a fat left there once, was underwater for a good while. and that
was only a nicer wave on the first reef, low tide. it'll be out of my league
for sure, even when I was younger, so don't ask if I'm surfing it, I'm not!
but I might take my boys down to watch depending on my schedule.

mavericks is bigger, and by a good margin, but it's almost cartoon
like and you are futher away, plus it will probably be suffering from wind.
for pure spectator value, really big steamer lane is hard to beat.

best,

Took a drive down Westy today to watch the tide, it was WAY low at around 1:30pm, but the wave action was nice.
the "sets" (if thats the proper term) were right on top of each other!  (meaning one wave was following very close to one ahead of it)
Off seal rock, the white water was impressive.  The waves seemed to be breaking out a ways.
 Was a nice drive.

I remember last year in the big storms we had then, seal rock dissapearing completly under these enormous waves.  That same time frame, I watched a convertible VW rabbit or jetta get totally drenched by a wave at the end of Woodrow!Came right up over the rocks and SPLASH right down onto the open top.  The chick driving was clueless untill it was too late.  There was probably 50 people standing just outside of the waves path, and some drivers were luck and made it past before a wave drenched them.   :smt005  That one gal was one of the unlucky ones that day! Hahahahaha....
