Hi guys.....
Paul from La Jolla is the point man for gathering info that can be presented to the powers that be, info that may be crucial in protecting our rights to kayak fish in areas that others may want to designate as 'Off Limits"

I paste his post fro Kayak4fish here in hopes we can all contribute to this effort:

------------------------------------------------------------------------
Urgent and important! Please help identify kayak fishing launch sites from Pt Conception to Pt Arena. The information must be compiled so the KFASC and organizations we are working with can respond to proposed Marine Protected Area (MPA) locations. This is part of the Marine Life Protection Act process. The lines will be drawn soon.

Please email launch site information to [email protected]. Give us as much detail as possible, we need to be able to plot it on a map. Please DON'T post it here. If possible, go to the California Coastal Records Project website and point us to the correct page. Their home page is www1.californiacoastline.org

We need your help! If we can identify our launch sites other more influential organizations will back us up. If we don't do this work, we'll be out of luck.

There is a very important "public comment" meeting being held i Santa Cruz next week

Wednesday, Feb 16, 6-9pm at the UCSC INN (formerly the Holiday Inn), 611 Ocean St (right next to the County buildings)

This has to do with the MLPA process which seeks to establish a series of marine reserves in which no fishing will be allowed.  Many of the spots bveing looked at are our prime fishing locations!!!!

The groups pursuing this agenda are well-funded, usually leftist eco type goups.  Some good intentions, somewhat naive implementations.  My fears are those people in the groups that consider man 'evil' and every footprint of man to be a sacrilidge on the earth's surface.....read that every paddle stroke in our case.

the best place to count our political power as anglers is Coastside Fishing Club, I'd urge all who have not done so to join that club at their website:

http://www.coastsidefishingclub.com/

You can stay up on al the current issues, and the club is directly affiliated with the RFA and their 'Right to fish' efforts.

BTW--a few salmon were caught in Santa Cruz this week- 50-90 feeet of water- between Pleasure Point and the Lighthouse area.....mayhaps another good year in the offing???

All for now-

Allen
