Warning... Don't fish Ferry Point

DDT has very low human toxicity.  There is a slight link with breast cancer, but nothing statistically significant.  Ever wonder why there was no fallout from kids who used to chase the DDT truck down the street bathing in the stuff?  Because it's hardly toxic to humans at all. 

That said, it destroyed bird populations. 

I'd be more worried about mercury.

Don't forget about the explosion of '44 in Port chicigo,  1 AE and 1 liberity ship.  they are still finding boombs in the river.  and yes that is toxic.  but the 200 they found in 1990 made one nice fishing hole
