The reports are starting to come in of Halibut in tomales bay, so I figure it's time to start my round of skunks for the year.

I'll be out there probably July 5.  I'll try to be OTW around 6am at Miller Park.

The morning tide is outgoing, and winds are predicted to be around 7mph from the south.  I might paddle south as far as I feel like, and then drift back north.

This will be my first time back OTW, after a broken arm.  See you out there on Ch 69.

I'm planning a non-fishing kayak trip at Tomales on Tuesday, the 6th, and NOAA doesn't have the wind data for that day, or Monday, yet. Weather.com is showing 11mph SSW on Monday. They show 80 degrees there on Monday; NOAA shows 67. I'm in Sacramento and have no idea what it's like out there.

May I ask what's your weather source? I assume you've found them reliable in the past.

Thanks!

Hey Steamer,
For tomales bay, I usually look at the forecast for Marshall CA on weather underground.  The bay is very protected, so the usual marine forecast doesn't really apply.

For tomales, what really matters are tides and wind.  A high tide around 8am is best in my opinion, so you can get otw early, fish the slack tide and get off the water by the time the wind picks up.

Thanks Skunked!  That site looks good - lots of detail.

I don't feel like I'm guessing so much now.

I was planning to make bait otw.

However, I just realized my kayak was stolen.  Fuckin tweakers are running off with all my shit lately.  Guess I won't be OTW for a while.
