Hey Matt,  :smt006

Your in good company here in Monterey. Will be going out Saturday morning first light launching from the CG Pier if you want to join us. Stillwater shut down due to the U.S. Open.

FYI - When Fish Master1 and the crew are out you can count on an excellent shore lunch afterwords, potluck style :smt003. You'll see :smt002

Hey Matt,

Yes, north of the wharf. If your on Del Monte, go through the tunnel and take the first right onto Foam Street, and the the next right will take you to the CG Pier. Park in the lot near the boat launch. I'll be driving a green truck with racks. You will need to purchase a parking permit. The machine is to your right as you enter the parking lot. I plan to be there shortly after 5:00. If your not there when we launch I'll be fishing with my son along cannery row. We both have yellow kayaks. You can't miss us.  I'll be on CH 69. Look forward to meeting you.

Ben

Matt, welcome to MBay brother. Even better, welcome to this site. As many have said (and which is 100% TRUE) welcome to the "madness" lol!! :smt001

I, myself, am a rookie at this awesome sport with only 1 trip under my belt. Boy oh boy, my juices are running for another outing already lol!!

I wish you much fun and success brother!! IMHO, the colleagues here are great people who have taught and given me many good advices. If you ever would like to go fishing (either on kayak of off the rocks for some rockfishing) hit me up. I'm always interested in meeting my fellow colleagues.

For all the fathers, Happy Father's Day to you all :D

Hi Blake! I certainly am.  This is the greatest new spin on my favorite activity. This is a fine place to live!  Im figuring out rock fish off the kelp line, but I really want a big ling or sea bass, and a leopard shark.  My sonar should be arriving on Monday, so I can go find these reefs I'm hearing so much about.

Hi Daniel.  I appreciate the welcome.  I will be paddling tomorrow (Sunday), and every weekend for that matter.  I would love to have company.  I think I will launch from the jetty again.  It seems to be a productive area.  Once I get my sonar I will go explore some reefs. I will make announcements on the hook up.

Yeah Matt, we definitely need to hookup along with many of our NCKA colleagues :D

I took my kayak out for the first time this past Tuesday, and it was a thrill!!
My buddy and I launched outta CGP and fished both sides of the jetty as well as the kelpbeds around C Row. I ended up hooking a 22" ling and a lil cabbie, while my buddy c&r 5 RFs. All in all, a great day!

One thing though, be aware that you may see some dead sea lion pups floating around the jetty. Don't let it scare you like it did to me lol!! I was fishing while my kayak was tied to the kelps. During that time I fishing when I looked down next to my kayak, and guess what I see? A dead pup floating next to my yak with its head staring at me with an eye missing/eaten out. That s*%t scared that crap outta me, where I jumped back. Next thing I know, my momentum tips me, my yak, and everything else over!!  :smt044

Luckily, I was able to get back on, along with all my contents. Once I was ok, I just started busting up!! At least I can say that I have experienced a tip-over situation and somewhat have an idea of how to safely get back on :D
