Went on the islander outstanding boat with outstanding crew. Will jump on this boat any chance I get.

Now the report forecast looked decent with not much swell but some decent wind at 20kts to some gust of 30 which made for a difficult time staying on the spots.

My self and Garet were the 1st on the water. We were for some reason the only ones to head to the west and fish the boiler rocks and man was it fun. This was my first time tossing slugs and wont be my last it’s by far the most exciting way to get bass. Watching them chase it even on a fast grind and explode on the surface is really sweet.

We started tossing the 10inch slug and kept getting short bites but nothing sticking even had one hold on for 15sec and then let go on multiple times.

These fish fight way harder then a mainland fish they were pulling drag on a pretty tight drag. Let’s just say I had it to where I could barely pull line off the reel.

Garet on his fish we had multiple doubles fish were hitting as soon as the slug hit the water.

25 ft of water pretty clear…

Couple sunny bass pictures

Dinner before being cooked

And after 1st class all the way.

Big fish was a 20lb WSB and 2nd was a 9lb YT
No Halibut either.

OHHH WAIT im not done
Had to drive from San Diego 350 miles later I started fishing again…

Switched the kayak over to my dads truck and hit Crowley for some perch action but no perch wanted to bite so we hit the canal in bishop and got a few trout for dinner.
Then Sunday we hit lake Mary with the Bro’s Rob from http://www.mammothkayaks.com and Anacapabob and my dad and brother. Rob loaned the gang kayaks and we started fishing. Myself and Rob both powered over to the inlet and set anchor and started catching fish Rob with many doubles and myself with many hookups. My brother and Dad were around casting the shoreline and Bob was casting his fly and taking naps while drifting nightcrawlers on the fly. I did pull in a new PB trout at 3lbs. Rob and myself hooked up together and the fish he had and mine twisted the line and he unhooks a fish and says you have the small one mine is this toad under my boat well he gets it untangle and my line is still bouncing it was mine. So the assist goes to Rob. I pull anchor shortly after and start trolling lead core. No takers on the troll then join bob for the drifts with the flylined crawler. Here our some pics.

Oh ya the water was chilly…
