Hi guys,

New to the sport and looking for an entry level FF  -it looks like in the $100ish range, the Cuda 245 DS and the Humminbird Piranhamax 170 are out there.  Any strong opinions either way?  It seems like the Cuda is pretty popular here, but it looks to me like the Humminbird has a higher resolution screen.

I have an OK Trident 11 Angler with the transducer scupper - not sure if either of these units will drop into the scupper hole out of the box or if I need to get some accessory kit so any install notes would be appreciated also.

Thanks!

I have the 245 ds.  It's easy to install and easy to use.  I've used it about 2 times in salt water and about 4 times in fresh water.  It's been good so far.

i have a 24r and a lowrance 50 (same unit diff logo). Both have done well and have lasted 4 seasons on salt and fresh. With a rinse and di elect. grease they have held up well.
