Hi Gang! I've been working in the Marysville area for the last few weeks and I want to hit Collins. Any info on what lure/technique works best would be appreciated. I know I can surf the net for info but I would value opinions of my NCKA brothers more. Thanks.
I wouldn't go so far as to call a lingcod filthy but they're definitely dirty. But, a lingcod's got personality. Personality goes a long way.

Most the trout caught at Collins are on bait, but I troll shad raps and always get a couple if I get out early or stay out late, I've caught some nice trout when the lake is high like it is now in the grassy coves just inside the inlet to the powerlines sometimes you can see them cruising the shallows, then fish the channel as far up the inlet as you can paddle, you will graph schools of fish that you can drop down on.

To the right of the inlet in the back corner o0f the main part of the lake is a huge rockgarden and is the best place for smallies, small jigs and cranbaits, minos and crawdads.

The lake has some awesome spot and fair LMB fishing, I would guess that the fish are still down 15' or so and still sluggish so fish plastics or jigs slow.

They got some big cats in there and they love Minnows and Ballparks.

I really like that place and you might be hitting it just right, usally this time of year the waters a lot warmer.

Ice Cream still only $1.00

I went there with my Dad when I was about 11 or 12.  I remember that we didn't do well on trout but we killed crappie with red & white mini jigs fishing from shore when the water got murky in the late afternoons.  Granted that was a LONG time ago but one of the best trips I had with my pops.

I've caught most of my fish across the lake near the dam trolling rainbow rapalas early. Also in the same area using powerbait. They love that stuff. Most on chartreuse. Now that I think about it I've used Rooster Tails, a couple other Rapalas, and a couple different trout cracks (Powerbaits). I hear flashers and worms work too. Next time up there I'm going to try Dodgers and Powerbait Trout Worms. PM or post a hook up when your headed up there and maybe I can meet you there. Been meaning to get up there soon anyway. Rains been holding me back.

Fellas thanks for the info! I will most likely give it a try in a couple of weeks from now. I will post a hookup just in case anyone wants to join. BTW, that $1 icecream sounds really good too.
