So I compiled a list of stuff I intend on buying for my kayak. I do however need some advice on what else I need. So here is what I put together:
1. Hummingbird 385ci Combo Kayak fish finder
2. Hummingbird VHF55s radio
3. NRS Farmer John wetsuit
4. NRS Drytop
5. NRS Comm 3 wetshoe
6. Extrasport Striper fishing PFD
7. Bilge pump
8. NRS Pilot knife
9. Gaff (although I don't know which one to buy)
10. Scott pole holders

Some things I don't know are, tackle boxes and maybe a bait livewell. What else am I missing?

Buy all of the safety stuff you need and only the basic fishing gear.  Once you get out there a couple of times you'll realize what things you really need...otherwise you'll buy everything in the store and realize you really only needed a few things.

Landing Net - DFG regs.

Is that a general, species, or area regulation?

Every time I go somewhere new or target something new I read up on the appropriate regulations and have never run across a reg for requiring a landing net. If you can tell me where that reg is at I would appreciate it, because I go out with out a net a lot and don't want to be doing something illegal.

Interesting... I don't know why or how I missed it. Does the landing net apply to freshwater?

Regarding the gaff, I believe I read somewhere in the regs that you can't use it in freshwater. Will try to locate that info.

Thanks for the heads up and yes the FishingAddict the fun is just about to begin. I'd truly love going out with some of you guys and having you show me the ropes because I'm entering foreign territory. I have never actually used a gaff in all of my fishing expeditions. I've caught everything from 50 lb salmon to 7' sturgeon with the use of a net or noose be getting some hands-on training would be awesome. Thanks for all the knowledge.
