Just a quick little report here.  Last week, I bought a Humminbird 997c si unit and after meeting and talking with ChuckE at the Reno Scheels event, I decided to mount the transducer in one of the Hobie Revo's rod holders.  I took it out to Prosser on Saturday for a test drive.  It was my first time out at Prosser.  I got on the water around 4pm and fished till 8pm.  I ended up with two small 10" planter rainbows and one nice little 12" smallmouth.  The 997 worked well but I had the display unit mounted in the same place as my Lowrance.  It was too far forward and it was hard for me to see the details in the scan.  I'll be moving it closer to the seat.  It's definately a fun piece of equipement.  After I get it all set up and working the way I want it to, I'll post some pics of the unit and some sceen pics and videos of the scans.

Those side scanning units look awesome.  This is the first I've heard of someone putting one on a kayak.
          Thanks for the report.

I just found this post.  It's a much more elegant solution then my all PVC contraption plus it I like the flip up capability.  If the weather ends up crappy this weekend I think I'll make something similiar.
