I took Sara to do Aaron's Kayak Fishing Rig/Surf/Rescue Class at MBK this past weekend and wanted to share the experience.  It's my second time, yet I feel like I got just as much if not more out of it the second time around.

We had a great time, especially with such a great teacher like Aaron!  Had two other NCKA'ers in the class, but forgive me since I forgot your names!  Sara said her confidence level has shot through the roof now and admitted that a lot of her prior fears have been cleared up now that she has been through it.

Take a look at Sara doing her first ever self rescue!

My favorite part is the bracing and side surfing waves.  Its something I never really spend time doing since all I want to do is get through the surf zone to go fishing.  But its a lot of fun to get out there and just get wet too once in a while  :smt002

Here is the class outline for those of you that may be interested:  http://www.montereybaykayaks.com/go_kayaking/classes.lasso#rigfish

Thank you once again Aaron!  Your class is awesome!!!

Al,

Do you recommend using our own kayak or just go with theirs?

I loved the class when I took it last year.

I took the same class in February and was the only customer.  The conditions were less than ideal and got dumped a bunch of times specially when practicing bracing techniques.  I can still remember sand coming out of ears a week after.  At that time there was a couple who were obviously first timers that rented a tandem kayak. They could never make it out off the surf zone and were constantly rolling over.  Finally the gal had enough and called it quits.
