One of the things I LOVE about kayakking is that we all do it our own way.  A lot of people think it is not worth it or too dangerous, but even more people I know say exactly the same thing about fishing out of a kayak.

Our u going to Cat next week?

Upside = slightly-better FF readings?
Downside = your kayak will sink and you may die

I fail to see why this is a good idea. It sure looks cool though!

Thats what everyone that doesnt kayak fish says u may sink and die. The hole is plugged completly most sportboats trannys have the same type of install but much bigger model.

Wish I was on the CAT trip - bad timing.  I put in for vacation for teh Islander 6 day & shifting it to next week didn't work.  Know of any future ones?

Going to use those vacation days to hit multi spots & finish the rewire on my skiff, so I may be able to transport my own stuff & that of 1 or 2 other people out to Cat (and have a skiff there for safety) for future runs.

Funny about the sink & die comment, I think EXACTLY the same thing when I see all the pics of people out there with the inflatable PFDs, or no pfd at all.  To each their own, my first post in this forum was in response to the question asked.  I am not trying to convince anyone to do this type of install that does not want to.  Just like I don't try to get anyone out on a kayak that has no interest.  Granted the water down here in SoCal tends to be warmer, but more often than not I am solo.  I am far more concerned about the errant drunk on a jetski or powerboat hitting me, hence my pfd is always on & vhf radio is clipped to it or in the pocket.
