I was out cruising the web trying to remember the name of the scalloped edges caused by littoral drift...
This as a result of seeing nice clean scalloping today while out chasing the elusive BSP.  Oddly enough, a classic picture of what I mean can be found at

Which is RIGHT where I was fishing today!

Anyway, here's a link to a page talking about silting up of harbors and littoral drift -- including a cool picture of an un-dredged Santa Cruz harbor.  That's why there's a dredge that lives in the harbor pretty much full time now!
