If anyone's willing to spend $150 to enter a bass tourney but the proceeds go to Restore The Delta.
That would be $150 per team, i.e. 2 kayaks/anglers. http://www.restorethedelta.org/tournament.php

I sent a message asking specifically about kayak anglers; here's the response:

I am interested in pursuing the kayak and kickboat communities.  This tournament is all about spreading the word about the Delta ecosystem.  We don't want to leave anybody out because they don't have a glitter rocket!  Ideally, we would attract 25 - 50 kayaks and/or kickboats and have a critical mass.  Please talk with your kayak cronies.  The entry fee would be $150 per team; both fishermen would have their own kayak or kickboat.  There is a possibility of setting up a separate division for kayaks / kickboats w/out motors.

Thanks,

Michael Frost

I have his phone # as well if you're interested and want to look into it further.

. Boat Requirements: All boats must be equipped with wheel or tiller steering. No other steering devices will be permitted. Boats must contain a properly aerated or re-circulating live-well space to maintain alive your catch. Life jackets must be worn any time the main gas engine is running.

Mike is also discussing this on the Bass-n-Tubes forum.  I'm definitely up for doing this.  I can build you live-wells at 10% over my cost and guarantee those proceeds will contribute toward my entry into the benefit tourney.  :smt001

Here's what mike said about a potential non-motorized division on the other board:

"Right now we're set up as a team tournament, $150 per boat ($100 is a tax deductible donation to Restore the Delta, $50 will be paid back 100% to anglers). If somebody wants to fish solo out of a motorized boat, the entry fee would be $150.

There is a link to the rules at http://www.restorethedelta.org/tournament.php

If there is a critical mass of kickboat / kayak fishermen willing to participate. We will institute a non-motorized division. There are no kickboat/kayak rules right now. If you're interested in fishing the tourney out of non-motorized boat, please let us know. Also specify whether you'd like to pay $75 for an individual 5-fish limit or $150 for a team of two kickboats/kayaks. We're flexible.

This tourney is ALL ABOUT NUMBERS!!! We don't want to leave anybody out. We want to host a HUGE EVENT with media, sponsors, and speakers to tell the story of the economically valuable ecosystem in the Delta.

Thanks,

Mike F"

It's a worthy cause and I know it will be fun.

That's why I asked specifically about kayaks. Per his email, he's definitely interested in having kayaks/kickboats participate but I didn't address the live-well question. He did throw out "a possibility of setting up a separate division for kayaks / kickboats w/out motors," which would probably be the best route. Ideally, there would be a chase boat with live-well to pick up the kayak anglers' catches.

I doubt I'll enter this personally but wanted to throw it out there in case anyone is interested, as well as promote the cause.

Thanks, Aaron, just saw your post as I was about to post this one.

I believe that is also the same day as Yakhopper's Delta event for stripers.  Wonder if we can double dip?

Bryan, you could definitely give the "glitter rockets" a run for their money.  :smt004

Michael Frost also wanted to make a note of this - an incentive to sign up earlyl:
Quote
Remember that the anglers that sign up and pay before June 1st are entered into a drawing for a free two person 1-day guide trip with Bobby Barrack, a $425 value.

You're right, it is the same day. Fortunately, I think the conflict will be minimal with one event free and the other a $150 entry (although $100 of it will be a tax deductible donation to Restore the Delta).
