The place listed below often sells used gear.  I could have saved a bundle there on my Yakima stuff, but discovered the "used" option too late.

I've also got bloodbath's coupon for X% off at REI.  If you wanted to buy new at REI, I'm sure rack n road would price match (they did for me in San Jo).

Also, check out inno racks.  http://www.innoracks.com/  I have a set and really like em.  They aren't that popular yet, japanese brand, but much prefer their SUV racks.  I've tried both thule/yakima and they don't measure up

Compare rack-n-road to ORS http://www.orsracksdirect.com/ and I have found a better deal on ORS every time!

You could get by with the foam blocks and straps too http://www.amazon.com/Malone-Standard-Block-Universal-Carrier/dp/B000SXQCVA, or an even cheaper version is to find a old couch someone is throwing out and steal the foam padding from the cushions.  Then ya just need straps and front/rear tiedowns.
