I'm thinking of going to San Pablo Reservoir with my son on Sunday.  Does anyone know any good spots.  We are both new to fishing and kayaking but have been out a few times.  Also, I understand, they inspect the kayaks there.  I know that they want it dry, inside and out.  Is there anything else that might make them not let me put the kayaks in the water?

Of course, if anyone wants to come and fish with newbies, you would be welcome.

Be sure your kayaks are also clean of any streaks of mud as well as having no standing water inside or out.  Clean & dry!

I haven't fished it this year but last year I had good luck trolling small Rapalas along the area just in front of the Dam.  It's much closer if you can get the inspection done, then go back out and reenter at the gate where the concession building is located.  You can launch from the beach and it's a short paddle to the dam.  The beach area is usually a little crowded with shore fisherman so you need to find a spot to get out without disturbing them too much.  The beach area can be muddy and theres lots of Goose crap everywhere.  Tight lines!
