ARW 4/24... blah

I've been patiently waiting for somebody... anybody... to post a winning report for the rockwall over this past weekend. Doesn't seem to be. For posterity's sake, showed up on Saturday to an odd southern wind churning the bay waters. Set up and waited for a little bit to see if conditions would turn for the better. With some sage advice from Sharky, set out and sure enough the wind petered out 10 minutes later. Spent the next 3 hours bouncing a frozen herring in the drift. Fished in 8 feet of water. Fished in 15 feet of water. Worked the entire length of the wall and the corner of Baleena Bay. Nothing. However, as we were packing up on the boat ramp, it was confirmed that one keeper was pulled in by a young lady in an aluminum boat. Moral of the story: if you didn't have a young lady of your own, you were apparently better off getting crabs in HMB.

thx for the report all the same though...as I was curious how things were doing on that end of the east bay...(i was on the water but up towards Richmond)
the entire time I was there I thinking...man I should have joined the guys at ARW....

completely forgot about HMB crab fest which would have been my first choice as I have new virgin cages that need first kill.

Went on Sunday. Fished the entire daaaayyy....with nothing until the tide turned big time.
Worked the end of the wall. At 2:00pm had a tap on the pole... waited 3-5 seconds for the fish to swallow to set the hook. Set the hook, seems solid... Line starts Peeling of my reel then the fish broke off, and my heart with it. ALL DAY! one bit, 10 seconds 

Came home empty handed, thus the life of a kayak fisherman.

You guys aren't the only one having tough luck at the Rockwall.  Sharky, Lino, and I where out there this Monday morning 4/26.  Lino got the tail of his swimbait bit off, I got hit hard on my only live smelt.  Sadly, it didn't stick.  The Rockwall often sucks, but when it's good... it's can be very rewarding.
