hey guys, I want to get into some halibut from my kayak. I plan to troll the south San Fransisco bay, launching at oyster point and depending on the weather, go north so the wind will blow me back to the harbor. i don't have a fishfinder and i have "hit or miss" GPS points from last season that are probably to far south to excess by kayak. I'll be trolling whatever bait i can get and depending on if theres bait in the harbor or not, I'll sabiki rig a big for live bait which i can keep alive in a bucket I'll drag along side. anyone who knows the area and can point my in the right direction would be much appreciated.

thanks, nick.

There was a very informative article with a follow-up comment recently on JD Fishing in re: to your area.
Check it out and also pick up a finder when you can. jim

Wind at OP usually blows West to East.  If you're gonna troll you'll be better off with tray bait, its brined and will stay on the hooks better
..........agarcia is just an ex-kayaker

One thing about OP, you can set your watch to the wind.  Usually around 11am it starts to gust big time and it will be blowing in your face all the way to the ramp.  Not fun when it really gets going.

Shannon and I might be there Saturday am, depending on the WX.  So far, it looks good.
