How accurate are they and how good is the satellite signal?

I just purchased the 161C, but I am not getting a good satellite signal in the driveway. Dont want problems on the water. Especially in the foothill lakes with high canyon walls.

The price was right at $215 brand new

I have a 797c2 humminbird for my Gregor with built in GPS, no problems getting a fix anywhere yet.  also have a smaller Humminbird FF for my Hobie Pro Angler but have not used it yet.

Some thoughts on your question.

How much open sky do you have in your driveway?  GPS has come a long ways but some have problems getting a fix with trees in the way.  High canyon walls could indeed cause a problem,

My hand held got lost once (it didn't know where it was) after not getting a lock for quite awhile it asked me where it was, yeah really, it produced a list of almost every country in the world, I selected the USA, and bang back in business in minutes, only happend once.

I live in the Sierras, lots of trees (probably my problem). The unit is only 16 channels so that was a concern wheras the higher end models are 50 channel gps. I finally got a fix, just took a little loner than expected. I guess I will have to get on the water.
