Arrived around 7:30 am. It was very calm and quiet. Stoggie Curtis and StinkyTofu Pete were next to arrive then Al and Sara. Got loaded up and hit the water. GB2 was kind enough to give some intel from the day before. Started dropping my 3 traps around 8:30 and checked them in 45 minute intervals. I started south of the harbor mouth then gradually worked my way toward the green buoy. Stayed out til about 2 then headed in. It was the first time I have been on my yak in conditions this calm. I could've fallen asleep very easily.

Stats- 16 Dungies, but not a single legal size. Its like going to prom and not getting laid. 9 of them came in a single trap.

Take home- 9 assorted Rock and Reds, I can't justify showing up empty handed. Stoggie, a few of these had your name on them for your wife, but you had taken off already.

It was good meeting you all. Here are some pics.

Had a great time out there even though the dungies kept completely away from my traps  :smt005  Worked the 35-50fow with 3 traps, walking them in a line forward twards the green bouy but never saw a dungie (not even a tiny one!).

Only caught red and rock crabs, but took a nice haul of them home for dinner anyway.  They taste pretty good, but are much harder to crack into.

Caught a variety of interesting sea creatrues including; baby lingcod, sarcastic fringehead, sand dab, shrimp, starfish, and of course the crab.  Sara had no luck at all with the snare (think its better from a pier?) but kept us all company as we worked our pots.

Stoggie got the bigfish of the day award, catching a decent size sand shark in his crab trap  :smt044  He also got a nasty pinch on his finger by a crab trying to exact his revenge on him.    :smt009

It was great to see a bunch of guys out there all on yaks hauling pots!  Love seeing familiar faces on the water  :smt002  Hope we can get another outing together before the RF season opens up!

Nice report, looks like fun. Now I know where all the crab are, because they're definitely not in paddling range in the Monterey area. Good job

I saw everybody out there. My son and I hich hiked with a C/S member on his boat. There was 4 of us and we all got limits on dunngies. With that weather it is sad that we couldn't be fishing for rock cod. Hoping to get a shot at Salmon!!!
