Hi everyone  :smt006. I've been hanging around this board for while now, and figured I should start posting. I expect to be posting a lot in this section starting this spring, as I am going to start spearfishing.

I don't have a yak, so most of my fishing has been from piers/shore. My favorites around here in Nor Cal have been poke poling for eels, and crabbing too. I haven't been spearfishing yet, but I've been snorkeling tons of times before, and I can't wait to start spearing all these fish I've been seeing. I'll probably get some used gear, and start with a polespear this spring.
You'll probably be seeing a lot of posts from me as I try to learn more about spearfishing and such.
Glad to be on the board, and hope to see you guys out on the water!

Welcome aboard Rick.  Post a hookup when you go and some of us might join you for the spear fishing.  Looking forward to read your fishing report.

Santa Clara. I go all up and down the coast when I fish though. From Carmel to Bodega. I usually go camping in Humboldt and <endocino in the summer too.

Welcome Rick.  If you're not doing anything this Saturday I would recommend you go to the swap meet in San Carlost at Seasniper headquarters.  Here's the link:

There's  bound to be a lot of gear you can use to start in this sport.  If you have any questions about gear, just ask the person in the booth selling the most crap.  Chances are good that he can answer your questions.
