I took a page out of Kayotes book for this mod.

Heres something I recently put together to keep my battery box from sliding around.

A dry box from Walmart. I gooped some of that stuff you line your drawers with to the bottom of the box for grip.

After I figured out where I wanted the box to sit, I roughed up the bottom of 2 pad eye's and the inside of the hull. I gooped a pad eye on each side of where the box will be situated. The goop is strong.

I sized up a piece of 1/4" bungee cord and put a open hook on each end. I tried the other type of hook with the little locking tab and they are damn near impossible to unhook.

Tadaaaa, it sits in there nice and tight.

nice job!  I think i'll copy that and do the same.  my battery is heavy, so I hope the goop will hold.

John, that goop is pretty strong and if you prep the pad eye and your hull properly the bond will be tight. I goped the bottom of the pad eye and pushed it onto the hull. The goop will push up through the eye, let it cure like that. Also no need to try and smooth it out, it will settle on it's own. After it cures for a day put another glob on it and let it be, that's it.

I also use a heavy battery, a 12 volt 7 amp hour without any problems, stays put. The battery weight really isn't an issue because all it is doing is putting some down pressure on the box and the liner keeps it from sliding.

Love it!  I feel like a neanderthal now just tossing my battery box inside the front hatch...  Might "borrow" this idea  :smt002

the way i do it is pretty simple...i use velcro strips. two strips on the side of my battery (i use a lead acid) and two corresponding strips inside of my kayak.  i make sure to weigh down the velcro strips for a day so they are nice and strong.  i got mine from the $.99 store.

works fine, no sliding but i can't transport it upside down that way.

Velcro!!
I also leave the protective paper over one side - stick the other side against the kayak (out of the way) - put some between the box and the FF and then used the two pieces of Velcro to sandwich and hold my power and transducer wires.

Nicely done, very clean.
