We did yardwork yesterday as the predicted rain stayed south.  Midday my wife says, "those birds are different..."  I look up and it's two bald eagles right over our house!  Pretty far up but I got a few shots.  I've seen them a few times around here, a few in Eureka, a few down on the Eel.  Always very cool.   :smt001

Nice shots Eric!

Blue skies and increasing daylength and they start feeling it - looks like a smaller dude on the left and a bigger mama on the right in the first pic.

Better thin'em out a little to protect the ESA fish,,,,,,,,and what happens if we catch'em fishing in a MPA?

I've only seen one down here, waiting for the trout plant at Lafayette Res.

Nice shots!

Dave and I saw what we think a Bald Eagle at Lake Berryessa the last time we yak fish there.  I took a couple shots from afar and it flew away when I tried to get closer for a better shot.  Thanks for sharing the pictures Eric.

Very nice!  I saw a couple the other day in Mt Shasta.  They were sitting in a tree overlooking the fish hatchery!  Smart birds.  They sure are big.  We see a lot every year in Tule Lake.  I have seen 20-30 of them sitting out on the ice.  They are definately one of my favorite birds.  Thanks for sharing!

I was in ADAK, Alaska one time on the ship (Coast Guard) and another guy and I went down to the foot of the pier so that he could see them up close (about 20' away).  We had brought some small tomcods and had thrown them out for the eagles.  The other guy was extremely happy at only 20', until a young one took off and flew by him at arms length and shoulder hieght.  As he turned around watching the eagle fly away, his jaw was still hanging down around his bellybutton; I asked him how close did he want to get?  No answer!!!  At that range they are awesome with their 6' plus wings span.

I was sitting my my truck at lunch break here in Hillsboro, OR (Intel)  and watch with amazement, a bald eagle soar over the parking lot! That sitting was my 3rd up here so far.
