WOW nice pictures of my first sturgeon fishing experience.I need to be more careful pulling up my anchor. That was me swimmer #2. I was pulling up anchor to add another cannon ball because the anchor was not holding. It was a big suprise when I hit the water.I had to release my anchor then tried to climb on.Yak was not cooperating and side was sinking with very little weight. My milk crate had shifted so I swam around front of kayak and it was easy to climb in from other side.I lost 1 fishing pole and my bait.I learned a good lesson.Always be prepaired to go swimming. Thanks for the pictures!    :smt006

Glad to see that you're able to get yourself back on the yak unlike the other (#1) yaker.  I thought you recoverred your rod when you found the fishing line tangled to the anchor line?   Thank you for sharing your experience John.

Since when are you an expert on my 'beads'? WARNING! Hands off my beads dude!

FYI, they are strictly ornamental just like the tinsel I use to 'wrap up' my 'gift of ghosties'.

Next step is rasta beastly beads in red, yellow, & green. Hoping that 'prescription' will satisfy a sturgy.  :smt002
oops sorry jim, didn't even notice your "bead" from your picture.   :smt003 Craig's beads are more prominently shown in his picture, guess he likes to show them off!

but really futhel, if you try to tie the same type of rig as in the sturgeon article made by EK and don't put the beads there to keep the hooks apart, you'll just get tangles all day. BTDT.

Forgive me for quoting fishing regulations from years ago!!

Everybody dumps sometime. You did a good job on the self rescue. Sorry bout your rod. Foam pipe insulation zip-tied around for flotation might have saved it. I put flotation on all my rods.
Here's a pic of me 'dumping'. Sorry I have no OTW ones. I'm always willing to share my own misfortunes with the club.
However painful or dangerous they were at the time.
