02.06.10 Lake Merced....turtles and plane crash

That lake use to be healthy(er).  I remember when the water was a clear green, not the pea soup green that it's been for the last decade or more.  There use to be bass in the shallows in the tules.  Trout were definitely healthier. 

Joel, I remember that primo spot by the tules closest to the entrance on the North Lake.  Everyone trying to cast into the deep hole. 

i float-tubed it long ago...heard of bass in tule too. i remember a report 10 years ago, about it dropping in level and they couldnt tell why. so they closed it.
any catfish signs?
 

I'm around this lake quit often and have fished it recently. Seams very fishy but havent had any luck there.

Last time out I talked to a tuber who said he read the lake had just been stocked with trout. He was tossing flys but didnt catch anything.

Great pics of the lake. I happen to like the place. It gets a lot of crap for being stinky and ghetto but I dont see much of that at all there. In fact the golf course behind it and the big trees give the lake a very cool look.
