Crab pot

i want to get a crab trap.  i live in pacifica fiqured it would be fun to paddle out and drop a trap surf for a while and go back and pick it up, any way i was looking at the Promar Collapsible Crab Traps its says the openings are 4.25 x 2 is that big enoughf for the dunggies? i know the size limit is 5 3/4 but if the crawl in sideways it would be fine? what size opening should i look for

the promar tr 102s work fine for crabs. they're curious enough to find their way in.

Those are escape rings, not the openings.  The escape rings need to be 4.25 ID to allow small guys to get out.  But the trap has a wide ramp style opening for all size critters to walk in.  Do a search on Crab Trap Rigging or similar, and find the thread on these traps for more info.

I don't know the model number on my Promar collasible trap, but the two round openings have a inside dia of 4.5 inches.  I have bought some crabs that were 5 inches in their narrowest point.   Not sure how they were supposed to get in, so I installed larger openings.
