Launched right at dawn and headed out, very beautiful. The lake is waaay up since my last outing here a few weeks ago. Water had about 2 foot clarity. I headed straight to the spillway trolling a grub off each side of the yak. Made it to the spillway without even a slight bump. Worked a few rock piles that produces well for me in the summer which was now about 40 foot down with the higher water level. Tried many finesse worms drop shotted and some creature baits. Not a thing. Tried a few other areas with the dropshot setup. No strikes. Tied on a grub and a small rainbow trout pattern spinner. Trolled a few long banks and didn't get a single hit. Changed colors and finally got one nice hit but it didn't stick. Get the line back in the water and not even 5 minutes later another good strike. Fish is there, but feels weak and small. That is until I get it close to the kayak. Then it decides to wake up, lol. I had a fun time trying to net it since it wouldn't stop flopping. I would have let it go but it was hooked good, bleeding and wouldn't revive, so I will be having salmon for dinner. I headed back to the car at noon to call it a day. One fish but a rare fish toplining a grub.

nice fish jeff, but are you sure its a king?  I don't think there are any kings in melones and if there were the DFG would be fairly interested I think.

looks a bit like a koke to me, check the mouth to be sure

Maybe true, I dunno, looked a lot different than the koke I caught last summer, but yet it's winter. We will see

Nice report
Thanks for the pics
Judging by the mouth and lack of spots in the pic
I would have to agree with Ben - Kokanee.

WTG on the Koke and video Jeff :smt004
Is the video supposed to have audio? No audio on my end.
I like your new camera, how did you mount it?

I noticed audio was disabled on the camera. Ill turn it on next time. It was just the helmet strap on my head. I want to make a high center bracket behind me. I saw some guys online mount it on the sail mast on the Hobies.

I wish it had a small video playback screen. Its hard to hear the beep to know if its recording or not when you have it on your head. Id hate for it to not record a video and get home to realize it's not there
