American River Sunday 1-17

I am near my 999th cast, so I am due to catch a steelhead any time now.  Anyone care to join?

   I promised my wife I would frame some of her paintings on Saturday, and my WAF account is on the low side already.  Good luck with the Dinos.

While you are framing her paintings, you should have lunch going at the sametime. Then have
a good dinner together the sameday. Trust me, your WAF will increase ten folds.

I am walking down to the Russian for my first try of the year today, i will let you know how i did.

It should be raining on Sunday, which is just what the AR steelies need. 

So how was last week? I am looking for some Steelhead action! Do you fish in the yak or wade? Any other suggestions on mellow yakable Steelhead waters?

The fishing has not been good on my stretch of the American.  In the last week I caught a half pound chromer and a half-dead salmon (accidently/released).  I fish from my kayak with a drop anchor.  During a storm the American is the only close river to me that doesn't get blown out.  I also fish the lower Yuba, but to my knowledge it is currently closed. 

I went out for a few hours today, and the bite hasn't improved much.  The anglers I saw catching anything were sight fishing with tuna rods thick line and big hooks.
