Adam,

I'm guessing the moisture on the inside was condensation, not water penetration from the outside.  I've owned a number of Extrasport items and they all seemed pretty good to me in terms of waterproofness.   However, the material was on the thick side and didn't breath very well. Note that Extrasport is out of the paddlewear business now and in concentrating on PFD's.

-Allen
i was wet all over&in waders.....sounds like condensation alright.
thanks for the breakdown Allen!  i just got saw the PFD only site and wondered WTHell?

Thanks Guys!  I took Mooch's advise and went with a hood.  I have to say, my selections were really slimmed down finding a jacket with a hood.  I also made sure it said Waterproof after what Adam mentioned!   Trial by FisHunter…..

The comments about Extrasport making PDF's only must be correct.  Every Extrasport paddle wear item I found came in small or extra small only on closeout....darn all those rock cod fillets....

I found some Stolhquist jackets but they had some mixed reviews on the paddle sites.  I went ahead with the NRS Sea Tour Jacket.  It was on sale on the NRS site, normally $195, on sale for $115.  I went with the Yellow (kiwi) color in XL size.  I am 6-00 and 210 right now, so hope I sized it right!  I have got to loose this holiday weight  :smt011  BLOTY here I come!

Well here it is:

•   Fabric: 70 x 120-denier patterned nylon with WaveTex
•   Waterproof & Breathable: Yes
•   Neck Closure: Zipper Collar
•   Wrist Closures: Adjustable hook-and-loop
•   Waist System: Pull-cord closure
•   Pockets: 2 sleeve pockets, 2 handwarming pockets
•   Full-length splashproof front zipper
•   Splash proof under arm vents
•   Adjustable hood with visor
•   Reflective tape on hood and wrists
•   Reflective piping for added visibility
•   Fleece-lined collar
•   Mesh liner

Thanks for all the help!  I can't wait to get it and give it a try.  I might have to take a trip out in the rain to try it out.  I seems like it will be a versatile jacket.  I considered the semi dry wear, but can’t stand anything tight around my neck.  This looks like the more traditional jacket with just the neoprene cuffs and draw cord waist.  It also has pit zips to help vent on the warmer days or while paddling.  It should keep the condensation down.
I will be sure to give it a full review!

Thanks, Matt

PS:  If anyone is looking for a  Stolqhuist Jacket, here is a nice one marked down.  This was my second choice, but I liked the idea of a full zip.  I hope it makes dawning and doffing easier.

Thanks Tad.  This will be my extreme weather jacket.  Think "Deadliest Catch".  OK maybe not  :smt002

I mainly wanted this for rain, to increase my fishing days on the water along the coast.  I think it will make a nice rain jacket, and will work well if it is windy, cold or foggy.  I still have my Wally World light wind breaker pullover for the nice weather and light chop days.

I think I would have looked into the semi-dry jacket more if I was surf launching a lot.  Seems most the launches up here are pretty flat.  My buddy wants me to go to Monterey fishing.  I may need a good semi dry jacket there if we surf launch much.

I have used my regular rain jacket, but it is not really cut to paddle.  It would probably be OK if it was a little larger in the shoulders.  Also I like the yellow, as everything I have is in camo!

I got my jacket a while back and really like it.  I probably could have gotten away with a large, but the PFD will suck it down nicely, and it gives me room to layer.

The sleeved and shoulders are cut well for paddling.  The cuffs cinch up well and the drawstring cinches up nice around my waist.  The neck is not overly tight but zips right up to my chin to keep splash out.  It doesn't choke me at all which I really like.

The hood is huge but can be cinched around my face if the wind or waves are splashing or left looser to keep the rain off my head.  When zipped open the hood lays perfectly flat along the back and out of the way.  I don't even notice it when it is open, yet will be there for the rain.  There are adjustment straps all over this thing to modify it for any condition.

It is very bright and covered with reflective material.  It has fleece lines hand warmer pockets and two pockets on the sleeves for a candy bay or something small.

I think this is a great jacket, especially for the sale price.  Matt

The jacket came in so handy with the heavy rain we had at Lake Sonoma while we
were on the water. Thanks Matt for finding this jacket. You will not regret buying this one. I know I don't and it seemed Naoaki also owns one as well. Same color and all. :smt003
