Yup... I'm definitely envious of Jim.  I wish I had the time and money to chase sailfish in Mexico as often as him.  I've yet to go.

I'm hoping to take my first baja trip next summer.
The legend lives on from the Chippewa on down
Of the big lake they call Gitche Gumee
Superior, they said, never gives up her dead
When the gales of November come early.

spark, you might consider going in the winter.

I have been to the tip several times, including renting a 32 acre ranch for 5 months (yeah babee  :smt004 ).

Been both summer and winter.

I prefer winter.  winter has some bad winds (el norte) on the sea of cortez side, but the heat sucks the whole summer on the sea of cortez, you will melt.

On the plus side, I lost a good 10 lbs when I went down in late september one year.  and I'm not that heavy to start with.

late spring early summer is okay, but late summer is death. Not to mention hurricanes, we got smacked by marty sept 2003.

one may I was at 9 palms (just into the east cape),  I was surfing, but I saw this cat swim out with a wooden spear gun (first time I ever saw one),
I thought "what a dork", but then he came in with a big cabrilla and a sierra, in the 8lb range.

I caught a barred pargo on a krocodile off my surfboard there. got pictures of that.  actually 2, duplicates. same spot two days running.
about 5lbs.  I also surfed "with" pat curren!

My goal is to do the seven sisters in the winter again, surf when it's up, fish when it is down.  no heat, but no booties required in the water either. someday,  :smt012

I know baja pretty good, pm me if you want, i can answer questions.
