I grew up in Long Island NY.  For me growing up in the '60s and 70's, California was the promised land.  As a young and frustrated surfer and skier, I'd spend endless hours looking at California surf and ski porn.  In NY, especially in the 60's, only nut jobs surfed in the winter and places like Killington were a 7-8 hour drive away - when you could con your parents into driving.  Winter in Long Island is just cold.  When I heard that in California a person could ski one day and surf the next, I knew I was CA bound.

So, over 40 years later I skied some good snow at Ashland while my sons snowboarded.  We drove back last night and today I got great overhead waves with offshore winds at our local break here in Fort Bragg, Virgin Creek.  Yeah man, after 40 years I lived my dream.

Stoked.

Dave
