Nevada- Truckee River, -12 degrees outside , non-yak so far

6:30 am - I left my hotel room at Boomtown, drove up to the gas station to fill up with gas,  the sign says -12 degrees, just like stepping into the walk-in freezer at the grocery store. We were going to fish the Truckee in Nevada, I think I will wait until it is in the + side of the thermometer then go to Cabelas!

We plan on heading out to Pyramid Lake later today and/or tomorrow. Brought my Pro Angler and going to troll and flyfish Warrior Point.  more later----

Had great success from shore at Pyramid Sunday dredging chartreuse foam beetles at Blockhouse. 7 fish in 2.5 hrs for 2 guys with many lost. They were also catching on frog pattern spoons. Fish were up TIGHT to shore.

Trip ended up being a bust because we weren't prepared for extreme cold. Gortex waders are not enough for 39 degree water. The trout around Farad weren't cooperative, and my hand were shivering so bad, I couldn't have felt a strike if I wanted to.

We drove out to Pyramid Lake, went out to Warrior Point, looked at the waters edge, ice forming , and wussed out. We went back to the casinos and gambled.

Yep, next time bring the Neoprene! You might want to try the Little Truckee between Stampede and Boca as the water temps are a little warmer than the Truckee. It has been pretty cold and is going to snow again today and tomorrow! Good luck, Eric

I love that little stretch of water. It was too cold to get out of the truck for me. I used to play hooky to go fish Pyramid before a storm, we just screwed up on the weather forecast. Maybe better luck next time.
