I picked up a Malibu Mini-X in August and was wondering if anyone ever took it out into the ocean proper (not a bay or such)? It's very stable but also very short.

Just want to know if anyone has ventured out in the big blue and if so, how far?

thanks and tight lines!

The Mini-X is definitely ocean-worthy.  I've seen Sonny/Sailfish out more than a mile on his, and salmon trolling no less!  My buds and I started this madness up here in little 9' boats from Costco (about the same size as a the Mini-X but much cheaper!   :smt005).  You shouldn't have any problem with a Mini-X in the ocean.

My son was planning to bring his Mini-X to Albion. Unfortunately, he had to work.
We have three and love 'em.

That's one of the most stable kayaks that I've paddled and I'd took it out about 2 miles from shore on good ocean condition days.  Just remember it's not a "fast" yak so watch for the weather forcast (especially wind and fog) before venture out too far from the coast.
