On the Promar traps, is it necessary to install the escape rings? I just pick one up at Hi's Tackle and they told me I didn't have to because the trap was made of nylon. Is this true?

as far as i can tell you need the rings no mater what by dfg rules, they do not differenciate(sp) between materials traps are made of, camreon

No difference as far as I know. That would be really sad if a tackle shop like Hi's is dispensing bad info.

have the rings installed on your traps.
btw, i don't think the traps you got from Hi's are tr-102.  tr-102 is the bigger size trap that most of the NCKA members have.  Hi's usually has only tr-101 in stock.
