My housemate (kayaker, non-fisherman) was talking about us all going kayaking Saturday in Tomales Bay.  I know the wave forecast for the ocean is insane.  How protected will Tomales be?  Never been there.  How is the wind in the bay likely to be?  NWS is predicting NW winds 10-20 knots.

What about crabbing?  Worthwhile?

Thanks for any insight.

the inside of the tomales bay is well protected from the swells.  however, the wind and the tide current can be very bad.  the wind condition can change in matter of minutes and the water can get very choppy.  watch out for the strong current in some areas.  make sure to check the tide time table before getting on the water.
people do crabbing on the pier at Lawson's Landing.  i am not sure about crabbing farther inside the bay.

have fun and be safe

outgoing tide + incoming wind = ugly
