Well i took a dive today and just to let you rod and reel guys know, the ocean is alive with bait. Something spawned recently and i mean a huge spawn. Everywhere i swam there where clouds of baby rockfish, millions of them. Once when i spotted a black rockfish it swam under a huge school of these baby fish and i couldn't see it.

anyway i shot a couple of blues and blacks with bulging stomachs. when i got home and cleaned them i looked in their stomachs to see how many of these baby fish they have eaten and to my suprise they where full of krill!

If you are having trouble catching fish its not because they are not there. Its because they are stuffed, way to full to eat anything.

Thanks that's interesting.  On the kern river millions of baby crappie and shad get dumped through the dam, and I've never caught a fish when they're flowing down the river half stunned.

Great observation!  Thank you for the report.

Wait!
Are you saying the ocean is alive and reproducing???
Did you not hear that it was dying on all fronts?

The alarm that creates concern, fear and call to action should be based on real cause....real danger.
If there is real danger....we need the alarm!
Otherwise it becomes a false alarm...something that is illegal if done knowingly. Wasting the policemans time on false alarms is pretty bad as it would create a non emergency atmosphere if done too often.

Now,
Manufacturing alarms for the purposes of justifying grants and funding BASED ON NON INVOLVEMENT AND NON FAMILIARITY WITH THE OCEAN can create a false atmosphere as well.
Crying wolf permanantly will equalize genuine issues with the false ones and confuse truth w/ the routine money grubbing tactics of todays non profit office based eco-organizations..

As a marinelife consultant I live and work in this silly landscape of real issues mixed with phoney issues and its confusing to outsiders who tend to err on "the side of caution" and accept the phoney ones impulsively and automatically as it doesn't affect their livlihoods.
The over-worked phrase " the precautionary approach" has become a buzz word for ignorance masquerading as educated concern.
Its become a knee jerk fill-in where lack of interest and knowledge occurs.

Keep this a fishing report thread. I will lock down this thread if this turns political. I am not arguing with the point made but move it to the politics forum.

Thanks for the dive report.
